Check Out What's Going On At The Woodstock Inn
Station & Brewery ! |
Scott,
Peggy, Keegan and Molly have
been very busy this summer
managing the expansion of
the Woodstock Inn Station &
Brewery, in North Woodstock
(one of our favorite
watering holes).
Construction is proceeding
well.
The
new bar has opened for
business and is one of the
most beautiful you'll ever
see.
When
you visit look up at the
high ceiling and most unique
fans and lights in all of
New Hampshire.
To
view some impressive
pictures showing the
progress of the new
construction on their web
site

We all wish
them great success with
their newly expanded
operation.

Lincoln Public
Library . . . Named 5 Star For 5th Straight Year
! |

America’s Star Libraries,
2012: Top-Rated Libraries
Chooses Lincoln Public
Library five years in a
row.
The only 5 Star library in
New Hampshire.
We are very
pleased to present
the
results of the fifth edition
of the Library Journal
Index of Public Library
Service (LJI), a measurement
tool that compares U.S.
public libraries on the
quantities of services they
deliver. The 2012 LJ
Index, brought to you by
Baker & Taylor’s Bibliostat
Collect and Connect, is
based on Institute of Museum
and Library Services (IMLS)
data for 2010.
This year, 262 libraries
have received Star
designations based on their
service output. Over the
five editions there have
been 1,296 Star awards
conferred upon 455 libraries
representing 44 U.S. states.
On average, 259 Star
Libraries have received
these designations per
edition (the number varies
by year owing to occasional
ties). Though a significant
number of libraries post
repeat performances,
turnover in the annual
roster of Star Libraries has
been moderate. In any given
edition, about 200 libraries
received repeat Star honors
(though not necessarily the
identical Star count), while
roughly 60 additional
libraries earned new star
designations.
THE ONLY NEW HAMPSHIRE
LIBRARY CHOSEN AS A FIVE
STAR LIBRARY 5 YEARS IN A
ROW !
An impressive
111 public libraries
received Star awards in all
five LJI editions, and 30
select libraries earned
5-Star ratings in all five
editions.
The
Lincoln Library of New
Hampshire is rated in this
category.

hall consists of famed pictures and
biographies of the inductees as well
as examples of adaptive equipment
used for skiing. The hall honors
achievements in adaptive sports over
the last 40 years.
“Disabled Sports USA and US Paralympics

Mountain Adaptive Snowsports School at Loon
during the 2007-08 ski season!. Support
from benefactors such as the Flying Fifties has

Some Energy Facts For The Winter ! |
1.
Here are some useful facts to keep in
mind: |
|
The amount
of heat contained in a gallon of #2 fuel
oil is 139,000 BTU. |
|
The amount
of heat contained in a gallon of
kerosene is 134,000 BTU. |
|
The
amount of heat contained in a gallon of
propane is 91,600 BTU. |
|
The
amount of heat contained in a
kilowatt-hour of electricity is 3,413
BTU. |
2.
To compare the cost of heat from a
gallon of fuel oil verses a gallon of
propane you need to multiply the cost of
the propane by 139,000/91,600 or 1.52. |
3.
To compare the cost of heat from a
gallon of fuel oil verses electricity
you need to divide the BTU's contained
in a gallon of fuel oil by the BTU's
contained in a kilowatt hour of
electricity then multiply by the cost of
a kilowatt hour of electricity, e.g.
143,000 / 3,413 X $0.18755 or $7.86 !
(NHEC price used.) Would you still like
to have an electric car? |
4.
Check out "heating degree day" data from
NOAA to estimate how much fuel you
should have burned year over year by
